Dear Diary,
Something terrible recently occurred in my area. A young girl, I believe she was just a tourist on vacation, drowned right near my home. I fear the worst could happen. Her spirit is still here with us and I need to protect myself from it at all costs. I've done research and asked all of my friends, about what they believe would be the best way to avoid her spirit. I've come to the conclusion that I need to hang dolls around my house. Her spirit may be fooled by the dolls to believe that they are people. She will live within one of them rather than myself. I've gathered dolls and will be hanging them tomorrow, before I am too late.
Sincerely,
Julian Santana

Dear Diary,
I woke up extra early this morning to hang the dolls. I used wire to string the dolls surrounding my house. They look a bit tattered up because I located them from trash cans and canals, but that may ward off her spirit as well. This will protect me from her spirit.
Yours truly,
Julian Santana

Dear Diary,
It's been twenty days since they found him. Twenty days without my son. I came to visit him on his birthday, November 29th. Upon my arrival, I found creepy dolls hanging around his home. This, of course, was out of the ordinary. When I could not find him, I reported him missing. Days later, he was found in the ocean near his home. He had drowned. This was a surprise to me, my son knows how to swim. We buried him on the 3rd of December. I'm horrified by the way his life has ended. It will be hard to live my life without him.

This idea was given to me after reading the article called, “How Long Would You Last on This Island?” A supposed true story of a man who surrounds his home with dolls to protect himself from the spirit of a girl who drowns. In the following years, he takes on the same death. I decided to write the story from his point of view, as well as his mothers to incorporate emotion and what really happened.
